On Monday, I took Abigail to the pediatrician for them to take a look at the strange rash that we noticed on Friday. The rash is mainly on her elbows and knees with a few bumps on her face and hands. (Samuel told her she looked like a teenager with bumps on her face, LOL) The pediatrician took one look and said it's probably from a viral infection that she had a week or two ago, only she hasn't been sick! The doctor suggested we see a dermatologist if it did not go away over the next few days.
Which brings us to today! When Abby came downstairs this morning her elbows looked terrible and she had new places on her face and hands. I called the pediatrician and they made her an appointment with a dermatologist at 10:40.
The dermatologist came in took one look and said she was stumped, BUT that she was going to get to the bottom of this and would like to take a biopsy of the area. This meant Abby would leave there with 2 little stitches in her arm. It will take about 2 weeks to get the test results. Ugh!
Abby was so brave during the procedure, no tears when they numbed her arm and stitched her up. When we left the office she wanted to call everyone to tell them she had stitches! I think she thought it was pretty neat! LOL
Samuel's comment about the stitches--"Mommy, I don't like the fact that I am the only one in our family who hasn't had stitches. I feel left out!" Poor kid! Don't you feel so sorry for him! LOL
We ended up getting a second opinion from my sisters dermatologist later in the afternoon. He took one look and said he thought it was eczema and prescribed an ointment. We should have the biopsy report back in 2 weeks.
