A Little Pampering

Tonight the boys had tickets to watch the O's play in Baltimore.

(Poor Tom had his wisdom tooth pulled yesterday)
Abby and I decided we needed a little pampering while the boys were at the game. She insisted on wearing her pink dress from grandma'ma and her pink dress up high heals. After explaining that she would mess up her freshly painted toes, she agreed to wear her flip flops. Abigail has had quite a few manicures/pedicures at home, but never at a real salon. It was no surprised that she picked purple glitter polish! They looked very cute, and she even got white flowers on her hands and feet. She thought it was pretty special!! I think we will be doing this a lot together in the future. Afterwards, we had dinner then headed over to the ice cream store.
(Love her little curl in this photo)
When we got home she road her bike up and down the street to show all of our neighbors her fingers and toes.

Too cute!!!

Easter with the Adams

Saturday afternoon we had everyone over to our house to celebrate Tom's birthday and Easter. The kids had their annual egg hunt which is always a big hit. Afterwards, the kids got Easter goodies from Memaw & Pepaw.

Then the boys (young and old) had fun playing guns!

OH TRAP!

The other day we were in the kitchen making popsicles. Samuel ran over and grabbed one off the counter without realizing they weren't frozen! Juice landed on the floor and we heard Abigail say "Oh Trap!" Samuel and I both started laughing and said, Abby what did you say? "Oh Trap, Mommy....Samuel made a big mess." hahaha

Dentist

Back in November when I took the kids to the dentist (Ashburn Children's Dentistry) I was told Samuel had 2 possibly 3 cavities that needed to be filled. Ugh! When I called our insurance company, I realized we were going to an out-of-network dentist and decided to hold off until I could find one that took our insurance. Fast forward to March (yes, I know I waited a long time) but guess what? The dentist looked at his x-rays and even took their own just to make sure and.....NO CAVITIES! I am so thankful that we changed dentist.

Smurfette

See what happens when I leave Miss A unsupervised for a few minutes. I ran upstairs to help Samuel get ready for school. When we left her at the kitchen table she was coloring in a "My Little Pony" coloring book and when we returned this is what she looked like!! Samuel laughed hysterically and said "Abby, are you trying to look like a smurf...you look just like Smurfette." Hmmm, guess I learned my lesson. The paint has now been moved to the top of the closet!

100 Years Old!

Happy Birthday Grandmama Lizzie!!!

We love you!

(I love Samuel's face in this picture! I wonder what he's thinking?)

We had a nice birthday party for Grandmama at her house. Family and friends were there to celebrate the occasion. I cannot fathom what it would be like to live to 100, but what a great achievement!

Runny Nose

Abigail has a terrible cold this week and can I just tell you...the girl hates when her nose runs. The past few nights she's been waking up at 2am, 5am....so I can wipe her nose. She now brings the wipe box with her.

The other night she started crying, so I went in to check on her. When I asked what was wrong she said, "mine nose not working." Poor baby couldn't suck her thumb or stick Ellie's tail up her nose.

abigail @ 2 1/2

1. I love when I ask you to do something you reply "Otay mommy" it sounds so cute!

2. I love how you say, "that's mine doll" or "mine drink" instead of My!

3. You would be completely happy eating grits for breakfast everyday!

4. When you get upset with me you start crying "I want daddy," but at 3am you only want mommy!

5. Your favorite saying "I do it" you want to do everything yourself. Miss Independent!

6. You love to wear headbands & bows and guess what...you like to put them in your hair all by yourself.

7. You are so into matching everything. In your world as long as it's the same color, different shades, prints, it matches!!

8. Your favorite colors are purple & pink .

9. You love to sing and get mad at me when I sing with you. A few of your favorite songs are: ABC's, Twinkle, Twinkle & Jesus Loves Me.

10. After we say your prayers at night, I tell you that I love you sooo much...and you reply, I love you to the moon back!

11. Your favorite books are Corduroy and Snow White. We actually read my old "Snow White" book that was given to me in 1977. On average we read it 2-3 times a day.

12. You would watch "Cinderella" over and over if we let you.

13. You are still sleeping in your crib even though you have been climbing out since you were 18 months old.

14. 99.9 % of the time you have an Ellie with you AND you still stick Ellie's tail up your nose and twirl your finger around her trunk while sucking your thumb.

15. You are potty trained!!! You make me so proud everyday!

Conversation

Our conversation on the way to my mom's house this morning.

Samuel: "Mommy, when is the army race?"
Me: "What race are you talking about?"
Samuel: "You know, the one that's on the army base."
Me: "Oh, I'm not sure, you will have to ask daddy."
Samuel: "I think you and daddy are going to hold hands during it like boyfriend-girlfriend and kiss!"

Samuel

"Mommy, if you yell at me again, I'm going to draw a picture of you with a snout!"

"When I bite into this chicken you cooked, it taste like wax!"

"Mommy, when grandmama Lizzie was 99 years old, did you have to yell in her ear like you do now that she's 100 years old?"

Talking to his friend- "My papa bought me this Indiana Jones Lego set...you know, he's a business man. He has lots of money to buy lego sets!"

Singing

Tonight, Abby and I were singing before she went to bed. She loves to sing "Jesus Loves Me" and "Jesus Love the Little Children" but tonight every time we sang the part, "red and yellow, black & white" she would say, "no mommy, it's red and yellow, black & BLUE!"

Potty Training

Abby started wearing big girl panties this week and I am proud to report that she took right to it with hardly any accidents. My baby girl is growing up way too fast. Way to go Abby!!!
Now, if I could just make her understand that it's not okay to walk around the house naked all day! ;-)

New Years Eve

Happy 2009!
We spend most of New Year's Eve at the Wood's house visiting with good friends. Tom had a stomach virus so we jumped on the opportunity to get out of the house for a few hours! I did make sure we were home in time to ring in the New Year with him. Abigail was asleep at 11:22, before we got out of the neighborhood. Samuel stayed awake until we got home, but he was so sleepy. I promised that we could do "cheers" (as he calls it) the following day which satisfied him....he was out in no time.

Where's Abby???

Abigail loves the umbrella her big brother gave her for Christmas!

Princeton/NYC

We drove to Memaw & Pepaw's house on Thursday for a visit. Friday morning we took the train to NYC to spend the day. For 3 years now, we have taken the kids to NYC to see
Santa at the Macy's SantaLand. It's a tradition that I hope we will continue for many years to come. After we saw Santa, we had lunch and then headed over to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. Our last stop was the infamous FAO Schwartz toy store! What a fun and tiring day.
I honest didn't expect Abigail to sit in Santa's lap. Last year she cried (screamed) the entire time. This year she walked right up and sat in his lap and started telling him what she wished for. Samuel on the other hand has never been afraid of Santa and is more than willing to sit in his lap. This year was really cute, he whispered his long list in Santa's ear.

I wish for a BIG pink dolly (that big) and a purple heart necklace.
I wish for Star Wars and Indiana Jones legos, a telescope, a DS, a nerf gun and a Wii game.

Boys Club..

Each Friday 4 boys get together after school to play. This was our week to host boys club. So...the kids were at the table having a snack when Samuel decided to tell them, "at my house we're not allowed to say, What the Hell or Oh my God." I looked at him because I wasn't sure what brought this on. Well, about that time his friend from up the street chimed in and said, "Well, at my house we can't say F*%K." I almost spit my food out! I was laughing so hard I had tears. Of course, I couldn't let them see me because to them this was a very serious conversation. After Samuel and his friend cleared the air about what they can and cannot say the subject immediately changed to lets go play. One thing's for sure, you never know what's going to come out of a child's mouth!
